Description

Zoom on the Briggs & Stratton 20654

The Briggs & Stratton 20654 is a light duty pressure washer, and enables:

  • intense cleaning of tough, paintless surfaces
  • application of detergent and cleaning solutions
  • intense cleaning of hard surfaces

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics and design, its main features and all the additional features it has to offer.

Power

The Briggs & Stratton 20654 in use

The Briggs & Stratton 20654

With a 13 amp universal motor, its axial pump delivers a pressure of 1700 PSI (roughly 28 times more than a standard garden hose) and a flow of up to 1.3 GPM (values as per PW101-2010), resulting in the Briggs & Stratton 20654's cleaning power of 2210 Cleaning Units.

As it is an electric pressure washer, the motor of the 20654 gets easily started by a simple ON/OFF switch. The unit is ready-to-use with peace of mind, thanks to the included 35 ft GFCI cord.

Design & Handling

With its portable design and approximate dimensions of D20 x W14.3 x H30 in, the Briggs & Stratton 20654 makes mobility one of its core strengths. The handle adds to the 20654 convenience of transport.

With a weight of only 30 lbs, the unit is definitely easy to carry around. It is lightweight, partly thanks to its plastic frame. On top of its light weight, the transportability and easy of use of this model is further improved by the addition of two 5" wheels.

Main Features

The Briggs & Stratton 20654 comes with a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, 3 nozzles and a detergent injection feature, which are detailed below.

  • Soap injection: While the device doesn't feature a soap tank, detergent supply is ensured by a siphon hose. However, since the Briggs & Stratton 20654 does not feature a soap dilution mechanism, you'll have to make sure your detergent is correctly diluted before use. When a soap nozzle is connected, the detergent will be added automatically to the water.
  • Pressure hose: The 26 ft ⌀1/4" high-pressure hose, which is included with the device, can be stored neatly on the unit itself when idle, using a set of convenient hooks.
  • Spray gun and wand: The included classic ergonomic spray gun and its wand can be easily stored in a side hook.
  • Nozzles: The 3 nozzles included with the device, and the respective surfaces which they’re the most suitable for, are shown in the following table.

Other Features

  • Total Stop System (TSS): This feature automatically shuts off the pressure washer when the trigger is not engaged, to prolong the pump's lifespan.
  • Onboard storage: With the Briggs & Stratton 20654's handy storage area, you’ll always have all the necessary nozzles and accessories at hand and thus, you’ll be fully prepared for any job.
  • Safety: Safety of operation is enhanced by a trigger lock mechanism (which prevents accidental operation).
  • Accessories: Besides the usual owner's manual (opens in a new tab) and documentation to get you promptly started, the Briggs & Stratton 20654 comes with pressure hose, spray gun, wand, nozzle cleaner, power cord and soap hose.

The Briggs & Stratton 20654's performance versus other pressure washers

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Briggs & Stratton 20654 compare to similarly priced pressure washers.

  • The Briggs & Stratton 20654, a device which can produce up to 1700 PSI, is on the lower end of the pressure spectrum, among the electric pressure washers in the $120-150 price range. As for the device with the most powerful water stream, in this price range, one of the top products is the Realm BY02-BCMH with 2300 PSI.
  • This washer, with a GPM of 1.3 (gallons per minute) has a somewhat lower water flow value compared to devices in its price range. If being able to rinse away debris as efficiently as possible is your priority, one of the products with the highest GPM in this price range is the Sun Joe SPX3001, with 1.76 GPM.
  • The 20654 ranks as below average in terms of Cleaning Units, compared to electric devices in its price range, reaching only a value of 2210 CU (PSI x GPM). If you consider the highest overall cleaning power as a really important factor, the Realm BY02-BCMH and its 4025 Cleaning Units has one of the highest cleaning efficiency of all the similarly priced units.

Price comparison

As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other electric washers between 2000 and 2500 Cleaning Units, the Briggs & Stratton 20654 is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this pressure washer nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of cleaning power.
