Description
Zoom on the Briggs & Stratton 20680
In a nutshell, the Briggs & Stratton 20680 is a light duty pressure washer that allows:
- general cleaning of hard surfaces , washing vehicles, and preparing surfaces for painting
- applying detergents or chemicals, and rinsing surfaces afterward
- spot cleaning of hard, unpainted surfaces, and removing stubborn stains
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics and design, its main features and all the additional features it has to offer.
Power
Powered by a 13-amp universal motor, its axial (wobble plate) pump can deliver a pressure of 1800 PSI (around 30 times more than a standard garden hose) and a flow of up to 1.2 GPM (values as per PWMA testing standards). With these values combined, the Briggs & Stratton 20680 boasts a cleaning power of 2160 Cleaning Units.
As an electric pressure washer, the 20680 is easily activated by an ON/OFF switch, offering convenient operation. The unit is ready-to-use with peace of mind, thanks to the included 35 ft GFCI cord.
Design & Handling
With its hand truck design, the Briggs & Stratton 20680 provides excellent maneuverability. Guaranteeing longevity, the robust welded steel frame offers stability and protects internal components, even when subjected to demanding tasks. The rubber-padded fixed handle adds to the 20680 convenience of transport, while offering a comfortable grip.
At just 31.5 lbs, this unit is incredibly lightweight, ensuring hassle-free mobility wherever you need it. Adding to its lightweight construction, two 7" wheels are included, simplifying mobility and transport.
Main Features
The Briggs & Stratton 20680 comes with a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, 3 nozzles and a detergent injection feature, which are detailed below.
- Soap injection: The pressure washer features a removable 0.5 gal tank for detergent storage. However, since the Briggs & Stratton 20680 does not feature a soap dilution mechanism, you'll have to make sure your detergent is correctly diluted before use. Attachment of a soap nozzle prompts the pressure washer to automatically introduce and blend the detergent with the water.
- Pressure hose: For easy organization, the included 25 ft ⌀1/4" high-pressure hose can be stored on the unit using a set of easy-to-use straps when it's not in use, ensuring a clutter-free workspace.
- Spray gun and wand: A side hook allows for an easy storage of the included classic ergonomic spray gun and its wand.
- Nozzles: Review the table below to learn about the 3 included nozzles and the surfaces they're recommended for.

The Briggs & Stratton 20680's performance versus other pressure washers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Briggs & Stratton 20680 compare to similarly priced pressure washers.
- With a maximum pressure of 1800 PSI, the Briggs & Stratton 20680 finds itself within the anticipated pressure band among electric models priced between $100 and $120. If you're seeking the strongest water stream, look no further than the Simpson CM60976, which delivers an impressive 2300 PSI.
- When contrasted with devices in the aforementioned price bracket, this washer and its 1.2 GPM lie at the lower range of attainable water flow. If maximum rinsing efficiency is your top priority, one of the devices with the highest water flow in the same price range is the Westinghouse ePX3100v, with a GPM of 1.76.
- Featuring 2160 Cleaning Units (PSI X GPM) in total, the 20680 lands within the average cleaning efficiency range for similarly priced electric units. If the highest overall cleaning power is a priority, the WEN PW1900 and its 3200 Cleaning Units are notable for their higher potential cleaning efficiency compared to units in the same price range.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other electric washers between 2000 and 2500 Cleaning Units, the Briggs & Stratton 20680 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget pressure washer.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- Onboard storage
- Decent PSI for the price
- Decent CU for the price
- Could include more nozzles
- No detergent dilution mechanism
- Low GPM for the price

Agreed with weaknesses in the bottom line review, plus why does the water pressure decease, surge at times requiring to stop the machine and restart. It would be nice if a more flexible hose used to deliver water to the nozzle in its design.
