Description
Zoom on the Powermate PM1800
The Powermate PM1800 is a light duty pressure washer, that provides its users with an all-around versatile cleaning experience, and enables:
- focused spot cleaning on hard, unpainted surfaces, accessing high spots, and efficiently eliminating stubborn stains
- gentle cleaning of delicate surfaces, and low pressure cleaning of larger areas
- applying detergents and cleaning agents, and rinsing off surfaces
Ahead are presented its power characteristics and design, its main features and any other additional features.
Power
Its axial cam pump, which utilizes a 13-amp universal motor, may deliver a pressure of up to 1800 PSI (almost 30 times more than a standard garden hose) and a flow of up to 1.3 GPM. Although the provided PSI represents the maximum achievable value, it's typically only reached at initial discharge. Under normal operating conditions, the unit has a rated pressure of 1450 PSI. Corresponding to these values is a cleaning power of 1885 Cleaning Units.
The PM1800 gets going swiftly with a simple ON/OFF switch, making startup hassle-free. The unit is ready-to-use with peace of mind, thanks to the included 35 ft GFCI cord.
Design & Handling
Featuring a portable design and approximate dimensions of D9.9 x W12.7 x H27.5 in, the Powermate PM1800 underscores its dedication to mobility. The handle adds to the PM1800 convenience of transport.
With a weight of only 16 lbs, this lightweight unit is effortlessly portable, making it ideal for tasks that require frequent movement or transport around your home or property. Thanks in part to its plastic frame, it remains lightweight. Adding to its lightweight construction, two 5" never-flat wheels are included, simplifying mobility and transport.
Main Features
The Powermate PM1800's package includes a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, a nozzle tip and a detergent addition feature, with a more detailed description below.
- Soap addition: Detergent is added to the water at the exit, by attaching the included foam cannon to the end of the wand. To add detergent to the water, the adjustable nozzle must be disconnected from the trigger gun.
- Pressure hose: Utilizing a set of convenient hooks, the unit offers a convenient solution for storing the included 20 ft ⌀1/4" high-pressure hose (5220 PSI rating) when it's not in use, keeping it neatly organized.
- Spray gun and wand: Both the classic ergonomic spray gun and its wand may be conveniently stored in a dedicated slot.
- Nozzle: an adjustable nozzle is included. It lets you adjust the spray pattern from a full fan spray (widest spray width) to a direct stream spray (narrowest spray width).
Other Features
- Auto-Stop Switch: Featuring an automatic shut-off mechanism, this pressure washer stops running when the trigger is released, enhancing the pump's durability.
- Onboard storage: With the Powermate PM1800's handy storage area, you’ll always have all the necessary nozzles and accessories at hand and thus, you’ll be fully prepared for any job.
- Safety: Safety of operation is enhanced by a trigger lock mechanism (which prevents accidental operation).
- Accessories: Besides the usual owner's manual (opens in a new tab) and documentation to get you promptly started, the Powermate PM1800 comes with pressure hose, nozzle cleaner, wand, power cord, spray gun and foam cannon (to add cleaning solutions to the water).

The Powermate PM1800's performance versus other pressure washers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Powermate PM1800 compared to similarly priced pressure washers.
This unit is now discontinued, but used to be sold around $130.
- With its 1800 PSI max pressure output, the Powermate PM1800 was in the expected pressure range, for electric units in the $120-150 price range. Prioritizing the highest water stream power? Check out the Westinghouse ePX3100—a top contender in this price range, delivering up to 2300 PSI.
- When compared to devices in the above-mentioned price range, this washer and its 1.3 GPM (gallons per minute), was on the lower end of the achievable water flow. For those prioritizing effective debris rinsing, one of the top products in this price range is the Westinghouse ePX3100, offering a high flow rate of 1.76 GPM.
- At 1885 Cleaning Units, the PM1800 ranked on the lower side of cleaning power among devices with similar pricing and fuel type. For those placing importance on maximum cleaning power, the Goodyear GYE20V and its 3200 Cleaning Units offer one of the highest cleaning efficiencies among units in the same price range.
The bottom line
- Portable
- Onboard storage
- Decent PSI for the price
- Low GPM for the price
- Low CU for the price
