Zoom on the Ryobi RY803001
In summary, the Ryobi RY803001 is a heavy duty pressure washer, that offers an all-around versatile cleaning experience, and also:
- targeted spot cleaning for hard, unpainted surfaces, reaching elevated areas, and thoroughly removing stubborn stains
- gentle cleaning for sensitive surfaces, and wide coverage cleaning with low pressure
- applying detergent and cleaning solutions, and rinsing surfaces
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics and design, its main features and all the additional features it has to offer.
Power
Its aluminum axial cam pump, which utilizes a 160cc (4.4 hp) engine, may deliver a pressure of up to 3000 PSI (almost 50 times more than a standard garden hose) and a flow of up to 2.3 GPM. Corresponding to these values is a cleaning power of 6900 Cleaning Units.
Initiating the Honda GCV160 engine of this gas pressure washer is achieved through a classic pull-start process.
Gasoline is stored in a fuel tank with a maximum capacity of 0.25 gallon, which provides an approximate runtime of 45 minutes.
Design & Handling
Thanks to its hand truck design, the Ryobi RY803001 offers great mobility. Guaranteeing longevity, the robust steel tubing frame offers stability and protects internal components, even when subjected to demanding tasks. The foam-padded fixed handle adds to the RY803001 convenience of transport, while offering a comfortable grip.
This unit, weighing 62 lbs, strikes a comfortable balance between portability and stability, ensuring easy maneuvering for users of various strengths. A significant portion of this weight is attributed to the inclusion of the 160cc Honda GCV160 engine and a sturdy steel tubing frame. Still, the RY803001's two 12" never-flat wheels ensure easy handling and maneuverability.
Main Features
Along with the Ryobi RY803001 itself, the package also includes a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, a 5-in-1 nozzle and a detergent injection feature, which are discussed in further detail below.
- Soap injection: A 1 gal tank ensures storage for detergent within the pressure washer. The automatic soap dilution mechanism of the Ryobi RY803001 will dilute the detergent with a 20:1 ratio. Detergent is automatically added to the water when "soap" is selected on the 5-in-1 nozzle.
- Pressure hose: With a set of easy-to-use straps, the unit offers a practical solution for maintaining workspace order, allowing the included 35 ft ⌀1/4" high-pressure hose to be neatly stored when idle.
- Spray gun and wand: Both the classic ergonomic spray gun and its steel wand may be conveniently stored in a side hook.
- Nozzle: a 5-in-1 nozzle is included.
Ryobi's 5-in-1 nozzle offers five spray pattern settings (0°, 25°, 40°, short-range soap, long-range soap). Selection of a specific spray pattern is made by simply rotating the spray selector to the desired setting.
Other Features
- Safety: Safety of operation is enhanced by a trigger lock mechanism (which prevents accidental operation) and a thermal relief valve (which helps to prevent internal pump damage).
- Accessories: Included with the Ryobi RY803001 are also the owner's manual (opens in a new tab) and some basic documentation to get you promptly started, along with several accessories, such as funnel, spray gun, oil, pressure hose and wand.

The Ryobi RY803001's performance versus other pressure washers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Ryobi RY803001 compared to similarly priced pressure washers.
This unit is now discontinued, but used to be sold around $470.
- The Ryobi RY803001, which can achieve a PSI of up to 3000, fell behind the other gas-powered pressure washers in the $400 to $500 price range. If your priority is the highest possible power of the water stream, in this price range, we suggest checking out the Kärcher G3400P, which reaches up to 3400 PSI.
- When compared to devices in the above-mentioned price range, this washer and its 2.3 GPM (gallons per minute), was on the lower end of the achievable water flow. If maximum rinsing efficiency is your top priority, one of the devices with the highest water flow in the same price range is the Excell EPW2123100, with a GPM of 2.8.
- Featuring 6900 Cleaning Units (PSI X GPM), the RY803001 sat at the lower spectrum when compared to other devices in the same price range and fuel category. When considering the importance of superior cleaning power, the Excell EPW2123100 stands out with its 8680 Cleaning Units, boasting one of the highest cleaning efficiencies among similarly priced units.
The bottom line
- Honda engine
- Automatic detergent dilution
- Several security features
- No onboard storage
- Low PSI for the price
- Low GPM for the price
- Low CU for the price
