Zoom on the Ryobi RY803001
In summary, the Ryobi RY803001 is a heavy duty pressure washer, that offers an all-around versatile cleaning experience, and also:
- precise spot cleaning of hard, unpainted surfaces, reaching elevated areas, and effectively removing stubborn stains
- gentle cleaning of delicate surfaces, and low pressure cleaning of larger areas
- using cleaning solutions, and rinsing surfaces to remove residue
Its power characteristics and design, its main features and all its additional features are presented ahead.
Power
Utilizing a 160cc (4.4 hp) engine, this machine's aluminum axial cam pump can deliver a pressure of 3000 PSI (around 50 times stronger than a standard garden hose) and a flow rate of up to 2.3 GPM (values claimed by the manufacturer). Thus, the Ryobi RY803001 achieves a cleaning power of 6900 Cleaning Units.
The Honda GCV160 engine of this gas pressure washer is activated by pulling a starter cord, following a traditional approach.
The pressure washer's tank has a maximum capacity of 0.25 gallon for storing gasoline, which provides an approximate runtime of 45 minutes.
Design & Handling
The Ryobi RY803001's mobility is greatly enhanced by its hand truck design. The sturdy steel tubing frame ensures the longevity of the assembly, offering stability and protection for internal components, even during rigorous use. The foam-padded fixed handle adds to the RY803001 convenience of transport, while offering a comfortable grip.
Weighing 62 lbs, this unit offers a manageable weight that allows for easy handling by most individuals. The incorporation of the 160cc Honda GCV160 engine and a durable steel tubing frame contribute considerably to its overall weight. However, with its two 12" never-flat wheels, the RY803001 remains highly maneuverable.
Main Features
Along with the Ryobi RY803001 itself, the package also includes a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, a 5-in-1 nozzle and a detergent injection feature, which are discussed in further detail below.
- Soap injection: The pressure washer comes equipped with a 1 gal tank to store detergent. The automatic soap dilution mechanism of the Ryobi RY803001 will dilute the detergent with a 20:1 ratio. Detergent is automatically added to the water when "soap" is selected on the 5-in-1 nozzle.
- Pressure hose: The unit comes equipped with an included 35 ft ⌀1/4" high-pressure hose, which can be neatly stored on the unit when idle, thanks to a set of easy-to-use straps, ensuring easy access and organization.
- Spray gun and wand: The included classic ergonomic spray gun and its steel wand can be easily stored in a side hook.
- Nozzle: a 5-in-1 nozzle is included.
Ryobi's 5-in-1 nozzle offers five spray pattern settings (0°, 25°, 40°, short-range soap, long-range soap). Selection of a specific spray pattern is made by simply rotating the spray selector to the desired setting.
Other Features
- Safety: Safety of operation is enhanced by a trigger lock mechanism (which prevents accidental operation) and a thermal relief valve (which helps to prevent internal pump damage).
- Accessories: On top of an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) and the usual documentation to get you swiftly started, the Ryobi RY803001 also comes with pressure hose, funnel, wand, spray gun and oil.

The Ryobi RY803001's performance versus other pressure washers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Ryobi RY803001 compared to similarly priced pressure washers.
This unit is now discontinued, but used to be sold around $470.
- The Ryobi RY803001, a device which can produce up to 3000 PSI, was on the lower end of the pressure spectrum, among the gas-powered pressure washers in the $400-500 price range. If your priority is the highest possible power of the water stream, in this price range, we suggest checking out the Simpson PS60843, which reaches up to 4400 PSI.
- In comparison to devices within the previously mentioned price range, this washer, with its 2.3 GPM, was on the lower spectrum of achievable water flow. If rinsing away debris most efficiently is your priority, one of the devices with the highest GPM in this price range is the Simpson PS60843, which can reach up to 4 GPM.
- At 6900 Cleaning Units (PSI X GPM), the RY803001 ranked on the lower side of cleaning power among devices with similar pricing and fuel type. When it comes to the highest overall cleaning power in the current price range, one of the products at the very top currently is the Simpson PS60843 and its 17600 Cleaning Units.
The bottom line
- Honda engine
- Automatic detergent dilution
- Several security features
- No onboard storage
- Low PSI for the price
- Low GPM for the price
- Low CU for the price
