Zoom on the Ryobi RY803023
The Ryobi RY803023 is a heavy duty pressure washer, that provides its users with an all-around versatile cleaning experience, and enables:
- pinpoint spot cleaning of hard, unpainted surfaces, accessing high areas, and successfully removing stubborn stains
- gentle cleaning for sensitive surfaces, and wide coverage cleaning with low pressure
- applying detergents and cleaning agents, and rinsing off surfaces
Ahead are presented its power characteristics and design, its main features and any other additional features.
Power
Powered by the brand new Honda GCV170 (opens in a new tab) engine, which is specially built for pressure washers, its axial cam pump can deliver a pressure of 3100 PSI (around 52 times more than a standard garden hose) and a flow of up to 2.3 GPM (values as per PW101-2010). With these values combined, the Ryobi RY803023 boasts a cleaning power of 7130 Cleaning Units.
For this gas-powered pressure washer, the 167cc engine is started using a time-tested pull-start mechanism.
Containing gasoline, the pressure washer's fuel tank can hold a maximum of 0.25 gallon.
Design & Handling
With its hand truck design and approximate dimensions of D21 x W21 x H39 in, the Ryobi RY803023 provides great mobility. The durable steel tubing frame of the assembly ensures its longevity, providing stability and shielding internal components from damage, even in tough conditions. The foam-padded fixed handle adds to the RY803023 convenience of transport, while offering a comfortable grip.
At 62 lbs, this unit is light enough for easy handling, yet substantial enough to provide stability during operation. Its 167cc Honda GCV170 engine and steel tubing frame account for a good chunk of that weight. However, with its two 12" never-flat wheels, the RY803023 is easy to maneuver.
Main Features
The Ryobi RY803023 comes with a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, a 5-in-1 nozzle and a detergent injection feature, which are detailed below.
- Soap injection: Detergent storage is ensured by a removable tank. The automatic soap dilution mechanism of the Ryobi RY803023 will dilute the detergent with a 20:1 ratio. Detergent is automatically added to the water when "soap" is selected on the 5-in-1 nozzle.
- Pressure hose: With a set of easy-to-use straps, the unit offers a practical solution for maintaining workspace order, allowing the included 35 ft ⌀1/4" high-pressure hose to be neatly stored when idle.
- Spray gun and wand: A side hook allows for an easy storage of the included classic ergonomic spray gun and its wand.
- Nozzle: a 5-in-1 nozzle is included.
Ryobi's 5-in-1 nozzle offers five spray pattern settings (0°, 25°, 40°, short-range soap, long-range soap). Selection of a specific spray pattern is made by simply rotating the spray selector to the desired setting.
Other Features
- Onboard storage: The Ryobi RY803023 features a handy storage area, which allows you to neatly store nozzles and accessories and be always prepared by having everything needed at hand.
- Safety: Safety of operation is enhanced by a trigger lock mechanism (which prevents accidental operation) and a thermal relief valve (which helps to prevent internal pump damage).
- Accessories: Included with the Ryobi RY803023 are also the owner's manual (opens in a new tab) and some basic documentation to get you promptly started, along with several accessories, such as wand, oil, pressure hose and spray gun.

The Ryobi RY803023's performance versus other pressure washers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Ryobi RY803023 compared to similarly priced pressure washers.
This unit is now discontinued, but used to be sold around $450.
- The Ryobi RY803023, with a maximum pressure output of 3100 PSI, has an average pressure output, when considering gas-powered units in $400 to $500 price range. Prioritizing the highest water stream power? Check out the Kärcher G3400P—a top contender in this price range, delivering up to 3400 PSI.
- When measured against items within the price range mentioned earlier, this washer, with its 2.3 GPM, falls on the lower end of achievable water flow rates. If being able to rinse away debris as efficiently as possible is your priority, one of the products with the highest GPM in this price range is the Excell EPW2123100, with 2.8 GPM.
- Featuring 7130 Cleaning Units (PSI X GPM), the RY803023 sits at the lower spectrum when compared to other devices in the same price range and fuel category. If you are after the highest overall cleaning power, the Excell EPW2123100 with its 8680 Cleaning Units is one of the products that can achieve the highest cleaning efficiency in this price range.
The bottom line
- Honda GCV170 engine
- Automatic detergent dilution
- Onboard storage
- Several security features
- Decent PSI for the price
- Low GPM for the price
- Low CU for the price

User Reviews
I bought a RYOBI RY803023 – 3100 PSI 2.3 GPM GAS PRESSURE WASHER WITH HONDA ENGINE from the Home Depot. I used twice and now it won’t start. I did all my troubleshooting and everything seems okay with the exception of the ignition coil. I even replaced the spark plug. It’s only been less than 2 years. I’m trying to order an ignition coil online but not sure of the specs of the coil. Can you provide me the specs of the ignition coil so I can order the right one.
Thank You
Ronie
