Description
Zoom on the Simpson ALH3228-S
The Simpson ALH3228-S is a heavy duty, commercial pressure washer, that provides its users with an all-around versatile cleaning experience, and enables:
- spot cleaning of hard, paint-free surfaces and out-of-reach areas
- thorough cleaning of hard, paint-free surfaces
- cleaning of painted and frail surfaces
- use of detergent and cleaning solutions
Ahead are presented its power characteristics and design, its main features and any other additional features.
Power
With a 196 cc (5.5 hp) engine, its triplex pump delivers a pressure of 3400 PSI (roughly 57 times more than a standard garden hose) and a flow of up to 2.5 GPM (CETA-certified values), resulting in the Simpson ALH3228-S's cleaning power of 8500 Cleaning Units.
The Honda GX200 engine of this gas-powered pressure washer gets started by a classic pull-start mechanism.
Gasoline is stored in a steel fuel tank with a maximum capacity of 0.8 gallon.
Design & Handling
The wheelbarrow design of the Simpson ALH3228-S grants mobility and stability to the unit. The aluminum frame ensures the device's durability, as it will not rust. The reversible handle offers further versatility, as its different positions make the unit less bulky when stored.
Weighing 74 lbs, the unit is easy to maneuver by most people. Since the 196 cc Honda GX200 engine and triplex pump account for a large part of its weight, Simpson's utilization of an aluminum frame keeps the unit at a reasonable weight. Since the ALH3228-S has a set of two 10" pneumatic wheels, it is still easily maneuvered and manipulated.
Main Features
Along with the Simpson ALH3228-S itself, the package also includes a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, 5 nozzles and a detergent injection feature, which are discussed in further detail below.
- Soap injection: Detergent is fed in through a siphon hose, since the device lacks a soap tank. The detergent is diluted with a 7:1 ratio by the Simpson ALH3228-S's automatic soap dilution mechanism. If a soap nozzle is attached, the device will proceed to add the detergent to the water automatically.
- Pressure hose: A neat storage for the included 25 ft ⌀5/16" high-pressure hose is facilitated by a set of convenient hooks.
- Spray gun and wand: The included classic ergonomic spray gun and its steel wand can be easily stored in a side hook.
- Nozzles: The 5 nozzles included with the device, and the respective surfaces which they’re the most suitable for, are shown in the following table.

Simpson makes quality products. It has a Honda engine (like the old Briggs&Straton), which is bullet proof. The CAT Triplex pump is industrial grade. If you use this PW the average of 50hrs per year, it’s a ten year pump. If you take care of the pump, it’ll last much longer or you can use it, like I do, for light commercial use. The frame makes this machine light; I lift it in and out of my truck. Simpson customer service is a little lacking, but you will not call often. I think they are a very small company, that still uses paper and fax machines. I didn’t get all my nozzles; I literally got (4) 0 degree and (1) 15 degree. Called and they quickly apologized and said they send me the other 3 asap. ASAP took about 2 weeks, but I wasn’t in a rush. It’s pricey, but for the money, it competes with PW that run in the $850 to $950 range. Most other PW, in the price range, have either the CAT pump or the Honda or neither.
