Description
Zoom on the Simpson MS61049
The Simpson MS61049, a heavy duty, commercial pressure washer, gives its user an all-around versatile cleaning experience, topped off by the following features:
- spot cleaning of hard, unpainted surfaces, reaching high areas, and removing stubborn stains
- comprehensive cleaning of hard surfaces, vehicle washing, and readying surfaces for painting
- gentle cleaning of delicate surfaces, and low pressure cleaning of larger areas
- using cleaning solutions, and rinsing surfaces to remove residue
Its power characteristics and design, its main features and all its additional features are presented ahead.
Power
Utilizing a 187cc engine, this machine's axial cam pump can deliver a pressure of 3300 PSI (around 55 times stronger than a standard garden hose) and a flow rate of up to 2.4 GPM (CETA-certified values). Thus, the Simpson MS61049 achieves a cleaning power of 7920 Cleaning Units.
The Honda GC190 engine of this gas pressure washer is activated by pulling a starter cord, following a traditional approach.
The pressure washer's tank has a maximum capacity of 0.48 gallon for storing gasoline..
Design & Handling
With its hand truck design, the Simpson MS61049 provides excellent maneuverability. The robust welded steel frame guarantees longevity of the assembly, providing stability and protection for internal components, even under demanding working conditions. The handle adds to the MS61049 convenience of transport.
At 71 lbs, we can't really say that the unit is lightweight, and manually lifting or transporting it could be a significant challenge for users, especially if they need to move it frequently or navigate over uneven terrain. A key role in its final weight is played by its 187cc Honda GC190 engine and welded steel frame. Nonetheless, the addition of two 10" pneumatic wheels simplifies maneuvering the MS61049, even across rough ground.
Main Features
The Simpson MS61049's package includes a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, 5 nozzles and a detergent injection feature, with a more detailed description below.

- Pressure hose: Utilizing a set of easy-to-use straps, the unit offers a convenient solution for storing the included 25 ft ⌀1/4" high-pressure hose when it's not in use, keeping it neatly organized.
- Spray gun and wand: Both the classic ergonomic spray gun and its wand may be conveniently stored in a side hook.
- Nozzles: Refer to the table below for details on the 5 included nozzles and their recommended surface applications.

The Simpson MS61049's performance versus other pressure washers

This unit is now discontinued, but used to be sold around $350.
- Capable of delivering a maximum pressure of 3300 PSI, the Simpson MS61049 is one of the gas-powered products known for providing higher-than-average water pressure, within the $300 to $400 price range. If your priority is the highest possible power of the water stream, in this price range, we suggest checking out the Westinghouse WPX3400, which reaches up to 3400 PSI.
- When contrasted with devices in the aforementioned price bracket, this washer and its 2.4 GPM lie at the lower range of attainable water flow. For those prioritizing effective debris rinsing, one of the top products in this price range is the Predator 3200, offering a high flow rate of 2.8 GPM.

Took new Simpson pressure washer out of box and assembled. Added the oil packed in the box. Ready to clean my driveway. After about 3 hours of use I noticed both oil as well as a milky white substance on the driveway. Not sure where it was coming from. Also, the engine was difficult to restart once it was turned off to add gas. Had to pull the cord at least 30 times to restart. Tires left black marks on my driveway. Taking the washer back to the store for a refund.
I have this product and love it. However I didn’t think about a soap dispenser! my bad!
