Description

Whether it’s greasy farm equipment, stained aluminum siding, or a dirty truck, the STIHL RB 600 is ready to rock. It features 3,200 psi of water pressure and 208 cc engine. Its pump components are made of premium commercial-grade Triplex to reinforce its durability. Plus, with the easy start pump system you can start the washer without difficulty or back pressure from the pump.

Zoom on the Stihl RB 600

The Stihl RB 600 is a heavy duty, commercial pressure washer, that provides its users with an all-around versatile cleaning experience, and enables:

  • precise spot cleaning of hard, unpainted surfaces, reaching elevated areas, and effectively removing stubborn stains
  • comprehensive cleaning of hard surfaces, vehicle washing, and readying surfaces for painting
  • gentle cleaning of delicate surfaces, and low pressure cleaning of larger areas
  • using cleaning solutions, and rinsing surfaces to remove residue

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics and design, its main features and all the additional features it has to offer.

Power

The Stihl RB 600 in use

The Stihl RB 600

Utilizing an impressive 208cc (7 hp) engine, this machine's brass triplex pump can deliver a pressure of 3200 PSI (around 53 times stronger than a standard garden hose) and a flow rate of up to 3 GPM (values claimed by the manufacturer). Thus, the Stihl RB 600 achieves a cleaning power of 9600 Cleaning Units.

The Kohler CH270 engine of this gas-powered pressure washer is initiated by a classic pull-start mechanism.

Fuel for the pressure washer is housed in a tank capable of holding up to 1 gallon of gasoline.

Design & Handling

Enhanced mobility is a key feature of the Stihl RB 600, thanks to its hand truck design. The steel tubing frame's robustness ensures the assembly's longevity, maintaining stability and protecting internal components, even in the harshest environments. The folding handle enhances its mobility, while allowing for a convenient storage.

At 118 lbs, we can't really say that the unit is lightweight, and manually lifting or transporting it could be a significant challenge for users, especially if they need to move it frequently or navigate over uneven terrain. Its 208cc Kohler CH270 engine, the triplex pump and steel tubing frame are mainly responsible for its heavy weight. Despite this, the presence of two 13" pneumatic wheels reduces the complexity of moving the RB 600, even on rugged surfaces.

Main Features

The Stihl RB 600 in use

The Stihl RB 600

The Stihl RB 600 comes with a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, 5 nozzles and a detergent injection feature, which are detailed below.

  • Soap injection: Though lacking a dedicated soap tank, the device ensures detergent supply via a siphon hose. The Stihl RB 600 is not equipped with a soap dilution mechanism, and thus, it is up to the user to ensure the detergent’s correct dilution ratio when using it. Upon connecting a soap nozzle, the pressure washer takes over the task of seamlessly combining the detergent with the water flow.
  • Pressure hose: For easy organization, the included 40 ft ⌀3/8" high-pressure hose can be stored on the unit using a set of convenient hooks when it's not in use, ensuring a clutter-free workspace.
  • Spray gun and wand: Both the classic ergonomic spray gun and its wand may be conveniently stored in a side hook. The gun features a rotating auxiliary side handle to further improve the comfort of both left and right-handed users.
  • Nozzles: Review the table below to learn about the 5 included nozzles and the surfaces they're recommended for.

The Stihl RB 600's performance versus other pressure washers

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Stihl RB 600 compare to similarly priced pressure washers.

  • Featuring 3200 PSI, the Stihl RB 600 achieves a lower pressure value compared to competing gas-powered pressure washers within the $1200-1600 price category. If your priority is the highest possible power of the water stream, in this price range, we suggest checking out the DeWalt DXPW4440, which reaches up to 4400 PSI.
  • When contrasted with devices in the aforementioned price bracket, this washer and its 3 GPM lie at the lower range of attainable water flow. If being able to rinse away debris as efficiently as possible is your priority, one of the products with the highest GPM in this price range is the DeWalt DXPW4440, with 4 GPM.
  • The RB 600 ranks as below average in terms of Cleaning Units, compared to gas-powered devices in its price range, reaching only a value of 9600 CU (PSI X GPM). When considering the importance of superior cleaning power, the DeWalt DXPW4440 stands out with its 17600 Cleaning Units, boasting one of the highest cleaning efficiencies among similarly priced units.

Here's a list of the most popular specific comparisons:

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other gas-powered washers between 9300 and 10200 Cleaning Units, the Stihl RB 600 is on the expensive side of the price range.

While certainly not the cheapest of its cleaning power range, purchasing it could most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.

The bottom line

STRENGTHS:
  • Triplex pump
  • Good range of nozzles included
  • Onboard storage
  • Several security features
WEAKNESSES:
  • On the expensive side

Had to replace the injector 3 times and the unloaded valve once in 1 year, maybe 8 to 10 houses. Both parts have a spring loaded one way check valve that appears to be made from mild steel. The injector spring and ball corroded to the point that the spring broke. Also, the injector has no adjustment.
The unloaded valve also has a similar setup and it also corroded to the point of not working. This part only sees water,, no chemicals. The injector gets bleach and house wash soap diluted..
Totally unacceptable, I’ve been using washers for 30 years, and my last one was a mi t m who make these for stihl, same chemicals no issues.

    + PROS:
    • Starts right up
    - CONS:
    • Injector and unloaded are crap, corroded and broke after only a few houses.
