Description
Zoom on the Sun Joe SPX1050
The Sun Joe SPX1050 is a light duty pressure washer, that provides its users with an all-around versatile cleaning experience, and enables:
- pinpoint spot cleaning of hard, unpainted surfaces, accessing high areas, and successfully removing stubborn stains
- delicate surface cleaning, andbroad area cleaning with reduced pressure
Its power characteristics and design, its main features and all its additional features are presented ahead.
Power
With a 10.5-amp universal motor, its axial pump delivers a pressure of 1500 PSI (roughly 25 times more than a standard garden hose) and a flow of up to 1.58 GPM (values as per CSA testing standards). While these PSI and GPM values represent the maximum capabilities of the washer under specific conditions, it's important to note that under typical usage, the working pressure is 1000 PSI and the flow rate is 1.4 GPM, resulting in the Sun Joe SPX1050's cleaning power of 1400 Cleaning Units.
The SPX1050, an electric washer, swiftly activates via a simple ON/OFF switch, ensuring user-friendly startup. The unit is ready-to-use with peace of mind, thanks to the included 35 ft GFCI cord.
Design & Handling
Featuring a portable design, the Sun Joe SPX1050 underscores its dedication to mobility. The handle adds to the SPX1050 convenience of transport.
At just 12.7 lbs, this unit is incredibly lightweight, ensuring hassle-free mobility wherever you need it. This is, in part, thanks to its plastic frame, which allows it to remain as lightweight as possible. Although the SPX1050 doesn't feature wheels, its light weight renders them unnecessary.
Main Features
Along with the Sun Joe SPX1050 itself, the package also includes a spray gun, a wand, a pressure hose, 3 nozzles and a detergent addition feature, which are discussed in further detail below.
- Soap addition: Detergent is added to the water at the exit, by attaching the included foam cannon to the end of the gun.
- Pressure hose: The unit comes with an easy-to-connect 20 ft high-pressure hose. However, it doesn't feature any proper storage solution for it (no reel, strap or hook).
- Spray gun and wand: Both the classic ergonomic spray gun and its wand may be conveniently stored in a dedicated slot.
- Nozzles: The following table provides information on the 3 included nozzles and their recommended surface uses.

- Onboard storage: The Sun Joe SPX1050 features a handy nozzle storage solution located directly on the wand, instead of on the unit.
- Safety: Safety of operation is enhanced by a trigger lock mechanism (which prevents accidental operation).
- Accessories: Besides the usual owner's manual (opens in a new tab) and documentation to get you promptly started, the Sun Joe SPX1050 comes with spray gun, foam cannon (to add cleaning solutions to the water), pressure hose, power cord, nozzle cleaner, wand and garden hose adapter.
The Sun Joe SPX1050's performance versus other pressure washers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how the key specs of the Sun Joe SPX1050 compare to similarly priced pressure washers.
- The Sun Joe SPX1050, a device which can produce up to 1500 PSI, is on the lower end of the pressure spectrum, among the electric pressure washers in the $80-100 price range. After assembly, I used this pressure washer to clean my deck. I then stored it away properly for quite a while (typical of many home owners I think) until I needed it again. It leaked from connecting points of the pressure hose, O-rings are good (no abrasions, not cuts and still pliable) it simply failed to seal and leaks were significant-not just small streams. I attempted several times to get Sun Joe to replace this unit or at least provide a reasonable discount toward a different pressure washer. Even though it had catastrophic failure after a SINGLE ONE-TIME USE Sun Joe refused. Why anyone would buy equipment from a company that does not stand behind their products any better than this is beyond me.
